The U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) has been the Air Force's major investigative service since 1948. AFOSI reports to the Inspector General, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force and provides professional investigative services to commanders of all Air Force activities. The primary responsibilities of this federal law enforcement and investigative agency are criminal investigations and counterintelligence services. AFOSI’s headquarters are in Quantico, Virginia, US.
